Peace Museum Vienna Kitchen

Dear Sir or Madam:
I am writing this letter on behalf of Peace Museum Vienna (PMV). PMV is a non-profit organization that works to promote peace and raise peace consciousness in public discourse. Our core initiative, ‘Windows for Peace’ employs windows in the heart of Vienna to display pictures and messages from individuals who have devoted their lives and career to promoting peace and nonviolence. The museum is inspired by the messages and life of Bertha von Suttner, Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela totaling 365 individuals, our Peace Heroes.
PMV is a physical space for the coming together of ideas, debates and discussions centered around the meaning, message and relevance of peace in our world today. Our center conducts regular events including community collectives (such as our ‘Peace Kitchen’ event series), documentary screenings and guided Peace tours for students as well as the general public. Our aim is very simple – Peace is everyday and for everybody. However, PMV lacks access to a captive trust or source of funds and is managed solely by private donations.
It is obvious that the cultural department of the city of Vienna offers optimal conditions to the general public. We all work to ensure that the multiculturalism and diversity is promoted through various cultural events and the “Peace Kitchen” can be one of them. This will strengthen the interaction amongst the public and interactivity and tolerance will lead to a peaceful society.
One of our community collective initiatives is our quarterly ‘Peace Kitchen’ event. This event uses food as a means of introducing members of the public to a conflict affected area to fuel public discussions. On 28 August 2014, we kicked off the series and our flagship event, which focused on Tibet, was attended by around 50 people. In the second installment of this series, we plan to organize a Peace Kitchen Afghanistan on 10 May 2015. We have found ‘Peace Kitchen’ to be a very powerful way of not just reaching out to the community of the conflict affected region but also mainstream the struggles they go through and thus underlines the relevance and need for peace in a very real setting. After all, food is the way to the heart and interacting with the people and food of a conflict-affected region brings hearts and minds closer despite geographical distances. For our event in May, we are seeking to raise 500 Euros towards organizational and operational costs. Our events are designed to be small-scale targeted interactions. This event will feature cuisine from Afghanistan, followed by an open-house discussion between 50-100 participants.
We are reaching out to your esteemed organization to help support this initiative. As an event sponsor, your organization will be publicly acknowledged in all our event-related communication – both online and offline. You will also be invited as the keynote speaker to open the event. Most importantly, the event is a tremendous direct-action goodwill opportunity as you will be contributing to the cause of Peace and reaching stakeholders directly.
I will be happy to meet with you personally to take this discussion forward. Please feel free to call me or email me directly.

With kind regards,
