Location: Kabul and Kapisa, Afghanistan
1. Introduction
At the beginning of 2026, MEER Foundation, with the continued support of AKIS – Afghans Cultural Association in Austria, continued its educational and humanitarian activities in Kabul and Kapisa.
The main focus of these activities was to provide educational opportunities for girls who have been deprived of formal schooling, strengthen vocational skills among women and girls, and provide humanitarian assistance to families in need.
2. Main Objectives
The main objectives of the 2026 activities were:
* To provide educational opportunities for girls who are out of school.
* To strengthen vocational and practical skills among women and girls.
* To support vulnerable and low-income families.
* To create opportunities for continued learning and personal development.
* To ensure the regular continuation of educational activities by supporting teachers.
3. Ramadan Food Assistance
During the holy month of Ramadan, food packages were provided to families in need.
The distributed food items included:
* Rice
* Cooking oil
* Beans
* Qaymaq (cream)
* Jam
* One kilogram of meat
* Sugar
* Green tea
* Onions and potatoes
This assistance was provided to help vulnerable families meet some of their basic food needs during Ramadan.
4. Educational Activities
Educational activities formally started in April 2026 and continued regularly.
A. Grade 8 and Grade 9 Classes – Kabul
Two educational classes were established in Kabul for girls who have been deprived of formal education:
* Grade 8
* Grade 9
The classes provide students with an opportunity to continue their education in a supportive learning environment.
B. Fourth Sewing Course – Kapisa
The Fourth Sewing Training Course was launched in Kapisa.
The course aims to provide participants with practical sewing skills and contribute to their vocational development and future economic self-reliance.
5. Teacher Salary Support
To ensure the continuity and quality of educational activities, teachers’ salaries have been paid regularly and on time.
Monthly salary per teacher: AFN 4,000
Timely salary payments have supported teachers in maintaining their commitment and continuing the educational programs without interruption.
6. Key Achievements
During the reporting period, the program achieved the following:
* Educational opportunities were provided to girls who are out of school.
* Two educational classes continued regularly in Kabul.
* The Fourth Sewing Training Course was launched and continued in Kapisa.
* Participants received practical and vocational sewing skills.
* Ramadan food assistance was provided to vulnerable families.
* Teachers’ monthly salaries were paid regularly and on time.
* Educational activities continued with the valuable support of AKIS.
7. Challenges
Despite the progress achieved, several challenges remain, including the difficult economic situation of many families, the continued need for educational opportunities for girls, and limited resources for expanding educational and vocational programs.
Nevertheless, through the cooperation of teachers, program staff, and the continued support of AKIS, the activities have been implemented as regularly as possible.
8. Recommendations
To strengthen and expand the program, the following recommendations are proposed:
* Continue supporting educational classes for girls.
* Continue and expand vocational training programs, particularly sewing courses.
* Increase educational opportunities for girls who are out of school.
* Continue humanitarian support for vulnerable families.
* Maintain regular financial support for teachers.
* Where possible, expand educational and vocational programs to reach more vulnerable communities.
9. Conclusion
From January to September 2026, MEER Foundation, with the support of AKIS – Afghans Cultural Association in Austria, successfully continued its educational, vocational training, and humanitarian activities in Kabul and Kapisa.
These programs have played an important role in providing educational opportunities for girls, strengthening vocational skills, and supporting vulnerable families.
MEER Foundation sincerely appreciates the valuable and continued support of AKIS –Afghans Cultural Association in Austria. This partnership has made it possible to continue providing meaningful educational and humanitarian support to vulnerable communities in Afghanistan.
